Heavenly Albania
The Southeast Europe Peace Summit and National Blessing just concluded in Tirana, Albania. True Mother, Hak Ja Han Moon’s presence at the Opening Plenary of the Summit and the National Blessing Ceremony and her proclamation of Albania as “Shin or Heavenly Albania”, were at the very heart of the event.
More than 10,000 people attended the series of programs. The UPF Summit featured 400 participants from 46 nations and was attended by 16 current and former heads of state and government. We are grateful for the patronage of Mr. Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Albania, whose support helped enormously with matters of state protocol and security. Senior Minister Elisa warmly welcomed True Mother to Albania by presenting her with flowers at the steps of her plane and also delivered the Prime Minister’s greetings at the Opening Plenary.
In addition to the UPF Summit, there was a YSP Rally of 2000 Youth, the launch of this year’s Balkan Peace Road project, and numerous other programs including the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the new Headquarters for the Region, the Cheon Il Guk Embassy. WFWP held a Global Women’s Peace Network dinner where both WFWP President Julia Moon and Vice President Sun Jin Moon were featured.
In addition to 70 current and former parliamentarians and government ministers, we were pleased to have the support of many religious leaders. The Heads of the Islamic community and the Bektashi Sufi Order attended both the Opening Plenary and the Summits’ IAPD session. The Secretary-General of the Interreligious Council of Albania was also present, together with religious leaders from European and Middle East nations and Sheikh Mansour Diouf from Senegal, a key figure in the victory of the first Africa Summit in Dakar.
15 major organizations were official partners to the Summit, including several universities and a number of national media organizations. The entire proceedings were broadcast nationwide with over 200 articles and reports, all of them supportive. True Mother’s speech and the Blessing were carried live on national TV.
The Summit’s organizing committee was co-chaired by H.E. Alfred Moisiu, former president of Albania (2002-2007) and Father Edmond Brahimaj, the world leader of the Bekashi Order. President Moisiu, who first welcomed True Parents to Albania in 2005, was our pillar of strength. As a leader most respected in Albania for his tireless dedication and for taking a stand above party politics, he helped open doors to invite key partners, such as the Podgorica Club founded by former President Vujanovic of Montenegro, and high-level participants including the two current heads of state from Kosovo and North Macedonia.
Another important participant was Ambassador Christopher Hill from the United States, who served as US Ambassador in the Balkans during the 1990’s. As the main American diplomat in Albania at the end of the Communist era, he is very fondly remembered by Albanian officials and people in general. His presence drew much attention from the media.
Many people said they were impressed by the timeliness and relevance of the Summit. The Balkans has been a troubled part of Europe for a long time. World War 1 started here, and just 20 years ago the last war fought in Europe raged across the territory. Even today, there are many unresolved tensions and resentments. Perhaps there are few places in the world more in need of God’s healing and grace.
True Mother directly addressed this troubled history in her speech saying that peninsulas like her native Korea and the Balkans are the crossroads of powerful civilizations and often must pass through troubles. Albania and Balkan nations need not lament too much their latest rejection from the EU, she said. As “Shin Albania”, if the country can focus on strengthening its base with strong families and spiritual values, together with its neighbor nations they will become a transforming power for Europe. “Albania was considered last in Europe after her long history of suffering,” she said, “but time has come for the last to become the first!”
The National Blessing event was the high point of the whole weekend, attended by over 1200 Albanian couples representing the 12000 couples that have been blessed in the past year. Each region of Albania and each of the 61 Peace Councils in the country were present. Young people performed traditional dances, well-known singers warmed up the audience, until True Mother came on stage and gave the Blessings to three groups of representative couples representing each region of Albania.
Mrs. Monika Kryemahdi, the wife of Albanian President Ilir Mehta, stayed from beginning to end with her teenage daughter. In her congratulatory remarks, she said it was the loveliest event ever held in the Congress Hall. She also offered a gift of a beautiful traditional Albanian costume to True Mother on behalf of the Albanian people.
True Mother spoke about the importance of creating a strong Heavenly Albania based on family values. She nominated President Moisiu as Head of the Steering Committee tasked with the follow-up effort, and also offered donations to three local charities.
In her final remarks at the Victory Celebration, True Mother explained that a restored nation, like Shin Albania, should still be compared to a newborn child, needing constant care and attention. “The Kingdom of God cannot come in one day,” she said, “but, nevertheless, this marks the first day of Heavenly Albania. This nation must now live for the sake of others until all the surrounding nations are brought into the realm of God’s parental love!”

Through the marriage and family movement, many educational programs and approaches have been developed to give people knowledge and skills for creating successful relationships.

Youth Relationship Education:
Many youth fall into bad relationships because they have little knowledge or self-awareness and poor relationship skills. The lives and future of our youth can be improved by teaching good decision-making, the nature of healthy relationships, how to avoid destructive relationships and make smart choices about sex, and preparation for lasting loving marriages.
Parenting is such a critical responsibility and yet there is almost no instruction as to how to do it well. Parents and children enjoy healthier and happier relationships when parents learn more effective discipline approaches and communication skills.
Marriage and Relationship Education:
Never before has marriage been less supported by social, moral, religious, and cultural scaffolding. With changing gender roles and loosening of traditional values, couples face more challenges than ever before. Studies have shown that couples that learn realistic expectations, gender differences, problem-solving and communication skills have happier and longer lasting relationships. Seoul, Korea—The fourth World Summit on “Peace, Security and Human Development” opened with a banquet attended by dignitaries from 120 nations.

UPF International organized the summit together with its affiliated organizations the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP), the Sunhak Peace Prize Foundation, the Women’s Federation for World Peace, the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, the Washington Times Foundation, and the Segye Times.
Ambassador Hill said that the Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon provided a set of instruments for the path to peace—dialogue, mutual understanding and common cause—which, if sincerely implemented, can lead to peace.

Dr. Thomas Walsh, the president of UPF International, thanked the participants for making the long trip to Korea. He reviewed the events leading up to the creation of the IAPP and the Sunhak Peace Prize. He praised UPF co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon for her leadership and for carrying on the legacy of her husband, the Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, who passed away in 2012. In closing, Dr. Walsh called on the leaders to wholeheartedly contribute and share their individual and collective experience, wisdom and insight.
Two speakers offered reflections after dinner:
Hon. Cynthia Tarrago Diaz, a member of Congress from Paraguay, extended a warm welcome to the founders and gave her thoughts on the theme. Peace is not just the absence of conflict, she said; it is a sense of tranquility even in the midst of conflict. There is no single path to peace, because peace itself is a path if we practice “respect, tolerance, equality, solidarity and dialogue.” Peace begins with a smile, she said. The word is the sword, and reason is the shield. These are the armaments of peace. Peace is a duty and an obligation for everyone, she said. “If we unite our forces together, then we can make a better world, a world of peace.”
Ambassador Christopher R. Hill, a former U.S. ambassador to Korea, Iraq, Poland and Macedonia and a former assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, spoke about Korean reunification and, in particular, the security challenges coming from North Korea.
“For all our desire to be inclusive and enjoy shared values, the people north of the 38th parallel have no rights and must endure life with a government that doesn’t respect its own people,” Ambassador Hill said. “While the World Summit is talking about peace, there is a government less than 30 miles away from Seoul that is carrying out tests of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. The problems of the peninsula concern the entire world and not just the region. The vision of a unified and peaceful Korea can be fulfilled, but it won’t happen overnight. The circumstances found in Korea—lack of dialogue, lack of tolerance, lack of peace—can be found in many other areas of the world.” Ambassador Hill said that the Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon provided a set of instruments for the path to peace—dialogue, mutual understanding and common cause—which, if sincerely implemented, can lead to peace.
The opening banquet featured beautiful entertainment and many opportunities for social networking. The participants, though exhausted from their long flights, ended the day in high hopes for the rest of the conference.

There is no stopping now - THE CULTURE OF PEACE is spreading fast. The West will decline if not taking the same direction as fast as possible.

Thousands of high official and VIP underwent 3 day and 7 day workshops on DP (Divine Principle). 700 world leaders have come to Korea for the World Summit Conference on Peace. The list of worldwide activities for Peace of UPF has no end and surpasses any effort of UN or any government.
Nations, like Nepal already have DP education on TV (7 mill. viewers). They even hold Sunday Family Services on TV, to reach the growing number of Blessed families in the villages across the country. The World Summit was reported in media, TV and newspapers.
God is our Heavenly Parent. God's wish for us was to live in Love, with him as our Parent. Let's unite and fulfill God's Ideal on earth.

Throughout their lives, Rev. and Mrs. Moon have established many international organizations and institutions to promote world peace. They invested unreservedly in many fields including interreligious cooperation, projects to benefit society, intercultural activities, sports, education and the media, and have successfully led these initiatives with the aim of promoting peace and bringing salvation to humanity. Now Rev. Moon is proclaiming the eve of New Era of Peace starting with the end of 2012.
New Era of Peace will ShineIn a proclamation to the world Rev. Moon announced that in two years will shine a new era of peace and prosperity, spiritual and physical world will be linked as never before. The immoral secular traditions will go to extinction, and all of humanity will become one family through inter-cultural marriages .
We are living in an historic time
Rev. Moon has warned the world already in his Peace Messages, that God does not want wars anymore. It is our selfishness and greed leading us towards a terrible global war and the nuclear destruction.

The Path Humanity Should Take
Rev. Sun Myung Moon's Proclamation:
Distinguished Guests,The path that humanity must now take is clear. What would give you to hesitate in the face of the D-day that Heaven has revealed through us, the True Parents? There are now only 2 years remaining.
If you view the flow of history through eyes that focus on God’s providence, you can see that the changes of the times can be broadly classified into three stages. First is the “era of worldly matters,” in other words, a time when materialism took precedence.
Next came the “era of human affairs,” a humanistic era when peoples’ knowledge and emotions took precedence in and dominated the world.
However, these eras were transitional. They are destined to end. They were courses of preparation necessary in order to enter the era in which people could rid themselves of their fallen nature, return to their original selves and live as one united family where they attend God as their father.
The “era of heavenly affairs” is the final stage, in which human beings should follow the path of living for the sake of others. They should do this through establishing an absolute standard on the foundation of purifying themselves, both inside and out, through the holy Blessing Ceremony. This is the time of opening up the era of God’s kingdom, Cheon Il Guk, a time in which we can return to the heart of the one true God. Please engrave this point on your hearts.
Once the actual era of God's unified peaceful world - Cheon Il Guk begins, the spiritual and earthly worlds will be connected and brought into oneness, and all things will be governed under the Union of the Spiritual and Physical Worlds, which will be established on earth for the first time. Moreover, the providence will be carried out according to the heavenly law and the heavenly way.
Elections will disappear: They are conducted in a purely secular fashion and will absolutely disappear from the face of the earth. All people will become one family through cross-cultural marriage and the World Peace Marriage Blessing, and we will enjoy tranquility and happiness in the sacred reign of peace. Let me say it again: this day is drawing near.
As part of preparing for that time, a few months ago, on February 14, I proclaimed to all of heaven and earth the start of the new heavenly calendar. The Gregorian calendar and lunar calendar shall now stand in the positions of Cain and Abel and serve the role of supporting the heavenly calendar, by which we will record and indicate the progress of God’s providence.

Called by God to Sanctify and Bless Marriage
Rev. Moon was called by God to transform this world by sanctifying and Blessing the Marriage. Jesus appeared to the young Moon at the age of 16 and asked him to complete the task of bringing peace to humankind. Since that moment he was investing everything, with sweat and blood, even forgetting his own needs, to created a worldwide foundation to transform any area of human life and bring a spiritual revolution of Heart and Conscience.
For centuries Christians misunderstood and persecuted him, but now hundreds of thousands of Christian ministers come to understand and support him. The Way to Peace through the Holy Blessing
Until now, all weddings were centered on the people who were getting married, but our wedding ceremony is significant and necessary in order to set a condition to indemnify the past history. The cross-cultural marriages contribute to the enormous task of transcending the barriers of race, culture, nationality, ethnicity and religion and creating one family of humankind. What method other than cross-cultural marriage will empower Whites and Blacks, Jews and Muslims, Orientals and Westerners, and people of all races to live as one human family? The ideal family is the model for living together in peace. The ideal family is the nest where we live and learn to become one. There we have the foundation of love and respect between parents and children, shared trust and love between husband and wife, and mutual support among siblings. For this fundamental reason, you should receive the Holy Marriage Blessing from the True Parents and establish Heaven’s tradition of ideal families, even if it means risking your very life.
To resemble God, the original Being of true love, we should become the owners of true love. We should embody true love and practice it in order to develop our character. This is the way each of us can become true parents.
What is a life of true love? True love is the spirit of public service. It brings the peace that is at the root of happiness. Selfish love is a mask of the desire to have one’s partner exist for one’s own sake; true love is free from that corruption. Rather, its essence is to give, to live for the sake of others and for the sake of the whole. True love gives, forgets that it has given, and continues to give without ceasing. True love gives joyfully. We find it in the joyful and loving heart of a mother who cradles her baby in her arms and nurses it at her breast. True love is sacrificial love, as with a devoted son who gains his greatest satisfaction in helping his parents. God created the universe out of just such love: absolute, unique, unchanging and eternal, investing everything without any expectation or condition of receiving something in return.
True love is the wellspring of the universe. Once we possess it, true love makes us the centers and the owners of the universe. True love is God’s essence and the manifestation of His will and power. When we are bound together in true love, we can be together forever, continually increasing in the joy of each other’s company. The attraction of true love brings all things in the universe to our feet; even God will come to dwell with us. Nothing can compare to the value of true love. It has the power to dissolve the barriers fallen people have created, including national boundaries and the barriers of race and even religion.
The main attributes of true love are that it is absolute, unique, unchanging and eternal, so that whoever practices God’s true love will live with God, share His happiness, and enjoy the right to participate as an equal in His work. Therefore, a life lived for the sake of others, a life of true love, is the absolute prerequisite for entering the kingdom of heaven.
